![]() It seems more likely that this is actually a race condition in Unity, since it can ALSO be prevented by turning off Auto-Refresh in Unity Preferences. Seems to me that all this blaming AVs is just a distraction from the real problem. Think about it: AVs having a problem with Unity when it accesses files during Auto-Refresh, but not upon Ctrl-R? All these AVs all causing the same problem? In my case, it goes from having the editor freeze every 5 minutes or so, to not have any freeze at all. (Optional, if you don't want to leave Game Mode turned on) After editor is running, go again to Bitdefender options and disable Game Mode. Go to Bitdefender options and turn Game Mode on.ģ. I realized you need to enable "Game Mode" only during the unity.exe process start. ![]() I came up with a better workaround for the problem. You could try to repro the issue (the free trial version of Bitdefender will do it). exes to antivirus exclusions, and disabling the "Auto refresh" option in the editor didn't work for me.Īnyway, it would be great if someone from Unity take a look at the issue, as having Game Mode active all day leaves my computer kind of unprotected. The automatic "Game Mode" activation doesn't work, as it seems to first start the process and then set the mode. Note: you have to manually set "Game Mode" before starting the unity.exe process. That way I haven't had any editor freeze in the last couple of days. The only solution that worked so far was to enable "Game Mode" in Bitdefender options. I have Bitdefender Internet Security 2011 and Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bits. Just to report I have the same editor freeze issue caused by Bitdefender, and to share my observations. ![]()
